New York Social
Justice Collective

Founded by the MBAWNY & NAACP YAAC

A coalition committed to reminding the world that Black and Brown lives still matter — every day, not just when protests are in the news. This is an everyday fight, and we need your help.

Why We Exist

The Fight for Justice
Doesn't Stop

The media has captured the higher rate of injustices the Black and Brown community has been suffering for years in comparison to other demographics.

The purpose of the criminal justice reform events committee is to remind people that Black and Brown lives still matter even though the protests are less frequent. This is an everyday fight. Representatives of the NAACP Young Adult Action Committee (YAAC) and the MBAWNY have met several times since May of 2020 to discuss the details of this committee. The representatives of the respective organizations are Alaina Jones, Sarah Washington and Jamila A. Lee — all past presidents of the Minority Bar Association of Western New York.

The Criminal Justice Reform committee will focus solely on planning a continuum of peaceful social events.

In order to enact effective change, we need your help. This is not an initiative we can continue to attack on our own. This is not a Black or white issue. This is an institutional issue. We are asking that you contribute to our justice reform campaign and not let lack of resources be the reason we cannot effectuate meaningful change for future generations.

The Buffalo Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has served the City of Buffalo and the Western New York region for over 100 years. Together, it is our goal to raise enough funds and a base of volunteers to enable us to continue bringing awareness and change to the WNY community. The goals of justice and equality that both of our organizations have fought for in the past must be continued.

Your Sponsorship Drives Meaningful Change

The MBAWNY is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization. Any sponsorships received will be put into a separate account created specifically for this initiative — not for the benefit of our members. Funds will be used to buy materials to help spread our message.

  • Purchase of t-shirts, masks, lawn signs, and community paraphernalia for the WNY region

  • Visual platform presence across Western New York — spreading the message in public spaces

  • Sponsor organization advertised on our website and additional online platforms

  • Continued updates on our efforts and advance notice about all planned events

  • Your organization becomes a part of the New York Social Justice Collective

Without the support of community partners and stakeholders, we will not be able to support our initiatives for our justice reform campaign. We need your support and we hope that you will join us to help make tomorrow look better than yesterday.
